FIDYAH

Fidyah 2025 Ramadan

If you are unable to fast this Ramadan due to permanent illness or old age, then a Fidya payment is due.

Fidya (Fidyah) is a religious obligation for those who are permanently unable to fast and cannot make up the missed fasts later. It serves as compensation by feeding a person in need for each missed fast.

Fidya is only required when fasts cannot be made up later. Those who miss fasts due to temporary illness, pregnancy, or travel must make up the fasts (Qada) after Ramadan.

How Much is Fidyah?

A donation of Fidyah in Ramadan needs to be enough to feed 1 meal to someone in need for every fast you miss. At Zaimah, providing 1 meal for a single missed fast will cost £2. If you are unable to fast for the whole month of Ramadan then your Fidyah payment will be £60.

The cost for Fidyah is based on how much it costs to provide a healthy, well balanced meal to those in need. Through our Worldwide Feeding Programme, we are able to put together  1 nutrient-rich meals for just £2.

Ramadan is the month mercy. It gives us the opportunity to seek forgiveness from Allah (SWT) and better devote ourselves to Him. Just as Allah (SWT) shows mercy upon us, our Fidyah is an act of mercy towards the less fortunate during our time of weakness.

Give your Fidyah this Ramadan with Zaimah, and provide a fasting person with a nutritious meal for Iftar.

Who Needs to Pay Fidya?

Fidya is paid in Ramadan if you are permanently unable to fast due to a legitimate reason and cannot make up the missed fasts later. It is not for temporary conditions where you can fast later.

Fidya is due only for:

Old age (permanent inability to fast)

Chronic illness (with no hope of recovery)

If you miss fasts due to pregnancy, nursing, temporary illness, menstruation, travel, or medication, you must make up the fasts later (Qada). Fidya is not required.

If you are unable to fast permanently, pay your Fidya today with Zaimah!
